Pinglin District

Pinglin District (aka Ping-Lin, Chinese: 坪林區; pinyin: Pínglín Qū; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Phiâⁿ-khu) is a rural district in southeastern New Taipei City in northern Republic of China (Taiwan). It is in the mountain area connecting to the Yilan County on the east coast.

Overview

Pinglin is part of the water district of Taipei area as the Feicui Dam (翡翠水庫) is located here, so land development is restricted. Pinglin is the most famous place for producing Pouchong tea. The Pinglin Tea Museum is the world's largest tea museum.[1] Over 80% of residents are tea growers or involved in the tea business.[2]
